SunOpta Released the 'OatGold' Protein Powder Made from Oat Milk Waste

SunOpta released a new upcycled protein powder made from excess oats titled 'OatGold.' The oats are sourced from the oat milk production process, where many oats are leftover and are perfectly healthy to consume. These oats are often discarded, as it is an often expensive process to use these oats elsewhere. SunOpta, though, sought to reduce food production waste while bringing a new, better-for-you protein supplement to the market with its OatGold.
The OatGold protein supplement comes in a powdered form, which makes it easy to add to baked goods, dips, drinks, and other prepared snacks. According to SunOpta, this oat-based protein powder is up to three times more protein-dense than traditional oat flours. On top of this, the powder is gluten-free and neutral in its taste, meaning it will simply absorb the taste of whatever recipe it is added to.
SunOpta is not the sole voice backing up its OatGold protein, though, as the product has received full certification from 'Upcycled Certified,' a program ran by the Upcycled Food Association nonprofit agency.
