The Nick Pedersen ULTIMA series provides a portrayal of our current world in a post-apocalyptic state. However, unlike many stories what has been left behind is an environmental utopia. The images were created by Philadelphia-based multimedia artist and illustrator Nick Pedersen, whose work is rooted in environmentalism. Each of these pictures depict a juxtaposition that is often found in the modern world between humans and nature.
Pedersen's visual story depicts the lives of one of the last men on earth. He has returned to a primitive state rooted in our pre-industrial tribal history. As Pedersen describes the narrative progression on his website as showing, "a rediscovery of these remnants belonging to the conceivably forgotten past." This series provides us with a tool to examine the current state of the world and mankind's impact on the planet.
