'NEOM' is the name of a new, futuristic megacity that is set to be built across three countries, Jordan, Egypt and Saudi Arabia, to offer an imaginative look into the future. Officially, NEOM is out to distinguish itself as "the safest, most efficient, most future oriented and best place to live and work."
The project announced by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud will be completely constructed from scratch, with an emphasis on integrating cutting-edge technologies into the fabric of daily life. This includes everything from passenger drones and "wireless high-speed Internet as a free good called 'digital air'" to automated systems, e-governance and net-zero carbon houses, which will be standard in the city.
