The Jeff Hong images of alternative Disney story plots showcase a darker side to the movies and narratives. In his blog titled Unhappy Ever After, themes and tails are twisted as characters such as Aerial, Bambi and Belle are depicted in compromising circumstances.
Almost unintentionally, Hong's illustrations have teased out a myriad of social issues. Although the classic, time-honored Disney characters would rarely if ever be associated with deforestation, plastic surgery and racism, he has drawn attention to these very issues via the unlikely plot twists.
Whether or not one contributes to the growing discussion on Unhappily Every After, it is nonetheless interesting to view unconventional takes on the films that have for the most part been accepted, celebrated and unchallenged for decades.
