Presented at the Spacevision 2013 conference last fall, the IXS Enterprise is gaining a lot of attention after the recent release of these stunning images showing what the theoretical spaceship might look like.
Since 2010, NASA physicist Harold White has been working on a warp drive that would allow spaceships to travel at speeds greater than the speed of light. Though the ship (and the idea of a warp drive) is only theoretical, that hasn’t stopped White from working with artist Mark Rademaker to create these stunning images of what this spacecraft might look like in the future. Named the IXS Enterprise, the theoretical spaceship shares a similar look with the Star Trek ship it shares its name with.
While it will most certainly be many years before such a ship will ever be constructed, Mark Rademaker’s breathtakingly detailed art makes it almost seem like the future isn’t so far off.
