Gucci is heightening its focus on tech, as the company has recently stated that it will launch a Gucci app that will use augmented reality for footwear. The app allows users to try on virtual shoes, and if the user is interested they can make a purchase through the app. The company is also pushing social media engagement through the app, it is hoping that users will post pictures of themselves wearing the virtual shoes.
The company notes that the Gucci app is the first of its kind from a fashion brand. However, the company has launched AR projects before, in order to promote its Gucci Décor collection.
Currently, the app is only set for release on iOS devices.
