As part of the WeaRAcon 2020 virtual conference, HeroWear is introducing the newest of its exosuits. The Apex is designed for men and women and specifically provides assistance to reduce strain on the back when people are bending, lifting or even leaning. Notably, the exosuit is touted as the first of its kind with a fit specifically designed and built for female users, which is important as women currently make up more than half of the US workforce.
The flexible and supportive exosuit was developed at Vanderbilt University and comes in at just 3.4 pounds. Made of lightweight materials, the assistive wearable design is helpful for taking over 50 pounds of strain off of the back every time a heavy object is lifted.

Trend Themes
1. Exosuit Assistance - Technology is advancing wearable exosuits to assist workers in physically demanding jobs, reducing physical strain and injury risk.
2. Gender-specific Wearables - More companies are creating wearable technology products that are specifically designed and built for female users, filling a gap in the market and accommodating diverse needs.
3. Lightweight Wearable Materials - As wearable technology becomes more popular, researchers are aiming to create lightweight, comfortable and durable materials that can support the flexible and supportive design of exosuits.
Industry Implications
1. Manufacturing - Exosuits have the potential to assist manufacturing workers in lifting and holding heavy objects, increasing efficiency, and decreasing the risk of injury and illness from overuse.
2. Logistics - Wearable exosuits can facilitate the movement of goods and people in warehouses and logistics centers, reducing strain on workers and increasing process efficiency.
3. Healthcare - Exosuits could benefit healthcare professionals by reducing their physical strain and preventing injury as they lift and turn patients during their daily tasks.
