If you're searching for a unique way to introduce some energy-saving habits into your home routine, I suggest you take a good look at the Completing Absence Lamp. This unique light fixture utilizes a pulley system in order to make the user aware of how much energy he or she uses. Essentially, the Completing Absence Lamp has two bulbs that have different weights. When the heaviest bulb reaches its lowermost position, the light turns off. The user must tug the lighter side down to turn it on again.
Designed by Petra Schmidt, who is currently completing a MA Industrial Design course in London, the Completing Absence Lamp establishes a relationship between the user and the object in a very productive manner. It will encourage the user to make more efficient use of his or her time.
