Calgary artist Caitlind R.C. Brown and Wayne Garrett's cloud sculpture fuses 6,000 light bulbs and human interaction.
Brown and Garrett's piece entitled ‘CLOUD’ is a massive installation of light bulbs and pull chords. Brown and Garrett concocted the project by using 1,000 working and 5,000 donated burnt light bulbs. It took several electrical workers and helpers to mount the finished product. Once installed ‘CLOUD’ was open to the public. People were encouraged to pull the chords. When pulled and tinkered with the lights illuminate, flicker and give off a magical light.
From afar the artwork resembles a literal cloud and up close one can admire the absurd amount of material and effort needed to bring this weather-themed project together. Brown and Garrett are talented up-and-coming artists and their cloud sculpture is an extraordinary demonstration of their brightness.
