Brussels design studio Madam Architectuur renovated the Charlotte Home, which featured an extension of the bungalow by Aalst. There is also an exterior renovation as the house is coated in a bright red-painted timber finish for a striking visual. The house was first built on the outskirts of a nature reserve from the 90s but it was found that the space lacked a connection with its surroundings.
Co-founder of Madam Architectuur, Door Smits speaks about the home's design, stating that "The house is located on the edge of a nature reserve but is only a 10-minute bike ride from the centre of Aalst. It is designed to really let nature enter. The existing bungalow had a number of nice elements, but the organisation and spaciousness inside were not quite right."
