The news is enough to send heart palpitations to bloggers and inspire non-bloggers to set up their first blogs. PaidContent just reported that a WordPress blog written and owned by a single blogger, Johns Wu, has just been sold to a financial information site, BankRate.com. The deal is $12.4 million up front with the rest possibly over the next year.
Johns Wu will remain on at the blog and continue to provide financial information on deposits, savings accounts and money markets. The growing site is highly ranked for top banking terms and has an Alexa ranking of 42,168. It derives most of its revenue from Adsense and, until recently, a Bankrate Partner program.
It’s an incredibly profitable sale for the blogger and is a fantastic inspiration for other bloggers dutifully slogging away for every Adsense cent! Here's a Bankaholic television appearance from earlier this year.
